Natural latex and organic cotton — a mattress without a plastic core
The Sannwald Matara LX is designed for anyone who prefers natural
materials for sleeping. Its core is made entirely of natural latex foam, and the cover
is made of cotton from certified organic farming. No cold foam, no
spring core, no synthetic filling.
The Core
15 centimeters of natural latex foam with seven support zones. Natural latex is derived from the
sap of the rubber tree. It reacts immediately to pressure and yields precisely
where the shoulders and pelvis are meant to sink in—the rest of the body remains
supported. The material is significantly more point-elastic than foam: it
gives way at the point of pressure without the adjacent area sinking along with it.
The open-cell structure of the latex allows air to circulate. Moisture is
dispersed rather than trapped, keeping the mattress dry.
The Cover
Double jersey made of 100% organic cotton (kbA), padded on both sides with approximately
400 g/m² of climate-regulating cotton and fleece, featuring
zonal quilting on both the top and bottom sides. Cotton absorbs up to 60% of its own weight in
moisture without feeling damp—together with the open-pored
core, this creates a dry sleeping environment.
The cover can be removed using a four-sided zipper. It can be
separated into two halves; both halves fit individually in the washing machine, can be washed at 40 °C
on the gentle cycle with mild detergent, and are dryer-safe.
Four handles make it easy to turn the mattress. The mattress can be used on either side
and is finished all around with a high-quality border.
Hardness Levels and Sizes
The Matara LX is available in H2 (Medium) and H3 (Firm), each in widths of 90, 100, 120,
140, 180, and 200 centimeters, with a length of 200 centimeters. The total height
is approximately 16 centimeters.
For the 180- and 200-centimeter widths, the manufacturer provides two cores at

Certification
The cover bears the kbA seal for cotton from certified organic farming
; the mattress is certified according to the OEKO-TEX Standard 100
(Certificate 43005, OETI).
Care
A mattress protector or mattress pad keeps the mattress clean longer and
saves you from having to wash the cover as often. Latex doesn't like direct sunlight—so when airing it out
don't place it in direct sunlight.
Custom designs are not technically possible for this model.
