With large sleeping surfaces, the number of sections determines freedom of movement, comfort for both partners, and ease of use. Two mattresses can offer more flexibility, while a single, continuous surface feels more stable. Trying them out for yourself illustrates the difference better than the numbers alone.

Single bed

Sizes ranging from 80 to 120 cm are easy to turn and cover. The specific option depends on the model.

Couple's Bed & Family Bed

For widths of 140 cm or more, discuss the spacing and specific requirements in advance. Plan the wide sleeping surface, base, and cover maintenance as a single integrated system.

All Mara Vital mattresses follow the same standard size chart: 8 widths ranging from 80 to 200 cm by 4 lengths ranging from 190 to 220 cm, for a total of 32 combinations. Two models are exceptions; see the note below the table. The current selection is listed on the respective product page.

Exceptions to the standard grid:

Geltech Smart KS: available only in widths from 80 to 140 cm and a length of 200 cm.
Brinkhaus Reversible Mattress: Widths from 80 to 200 cm, length 200 cm, plus 90 by 190 cm.

Chassis & Handling

The mattress doesn't end at the edge of the bed.

An extra-long mattress requires a suitable base. Check the support surface, center support, frame height, and whether you can move the mattress to air it out or change the sheets.

Plan the path from the entrance to the bedroom with the same care you would use when choosing the sleeping surface. Split designs may be easier to handle, but with a single, continuous surface, the quiet sleeping surface is the key advantage.

Frequently Asked Questions About XXL Mattresses.

Is 220 cm always better than 210 cm?

No. 220 cm provides more lengthwise clearance, but it also requires space, a suitable base, and a suitable route for transport.

What is the right width for a family bed?

That depends on the people, the room, and how you want to divide the space. Measure the usable wall and room lengths, and experiment with the width in relation to the base.

Is every mattress available in every size?
